![]() ![]() Both will be hooked up to a NAS where I keep my audio files (and movies etc). I have 2 macs - a desktop 2021 iMac for office work and a Mac Mini 2012 model. I have a couple of questions regarding my (possible) set up.ġ. I am considering to use my Mac Mini vs a dedicated server. long story short this replaced the NUC, NAS, switch & LPSU, and as a bonus got a good uplift in sound quality - a win-win in my books. It's also capable of running: Squeeze, minimserver, miniDLNA, SONOS & HQ-Player. My system also consists of AV duties, the Antipodes CX server currently runs Rooncore for music and PLEX for movies. I wasn't really expecting any sound quality improvements, just simplification of amalgamating all the boxes into one but the difference was/is not at all subtle. Luckily due to the new K & S series being introduced there'd been some good discounts available on CX & EX demo stock so decided timings good for a free no obligation 30 day home trial. ![]() Įven before roonready integration happened I'd been eyeing up the Antipodes CX server but always found the UK RRP a bit eye watering. Skipping a few month forward, the 8c's finally became Roonready so decided it was time to see if I could simplify the front-end in the same way as the 8c's have simplified my system - in to single a chassis(s) with built in streaming, room correction and volume control and a few other goodies. The HD Plex powered up the NUC, QNAP and NetGear switchīefore moving home a few months ago, I decided to try (and kept) the Dutch & Dutch 8c's. QNAP TS-251+ 8GB RAM + 2x 2TB SSDs running PLEX Server and storage for both music and movies Intel NUC i7 10th Gen 16GB RAM + 256GB M2 SSD running roonROCK This was taken to the extreme with the following: I had always used a computer based output with input to a DAC via USB or ethernet. I've been streaming locally (Qobuz/Tidal ext) 10+ years and have had quite a few systems in that time. For many many years I've avoided having or believing in a dedicated music server. ![]()
